While you were looking down at your iPhone playing Angry Birds, here's what you missed in the Texas sky during the month of April 2014. A boomerang (or V or triangle) shaped craft has been spotted all over the Lone Star State. Meanwhile, a few UFOs left power outages in their wake. Going forward, Texas UFO Sightings will feature a weekly recap of all the latest Texas UFO sightings, including sightings not featured in a big fancy blog spot. However, the site is currently sitting on a ginormous backlog of reports and so we'll unload those onto you gradually with a group of monthly "catch up" posts. Here's the first installment... (round-ups for March, February, and January coming soon): April 2nd

When lunar eclipses, meteor showers and other anticipated space events occur, there are always a lot of UFO sightings that come along with them - more people are looking up, after all! But that doesn't make those UFO sightings any less important. In the Austin area, people saw lights in a V formation on the night of the eclipse. In the Dallas area, they saw something else entirely: a fiery reddish orb bouncing around the moon for at least 30 minutes. Two witnesses captured the event on camera and sent detailed reports to MUFON, while a third witness also sent testimony to MUFON. Although it's difficult to explain this sighting, it does appear it was concentrated in the Dallas area (only Irving and Celina have been buzzing about this so far), ruling out satellites, stars and other outer space phenomenon. Check out the photos and testimony out of Irving: April 15, 2014, around 1:00-1:15am, I went outside to watch the lunar eclipse and I was taking pictures and saw the red orb, or whatever it is, moving around the moon. When I first noticed it I thought it might be a plane from the airport near by.....but then I thought you dummy planes aren't round. The object moved around the moon and behind it and came out the other side. It was pretty interesting. I just kept taking pictures. I figured enough is enough and went to bed. Didn't think anything about it till I showed a friend the next day and he was amazed. So here it is. As well as Celina: I was visiting a friend in Celina for a week. My last night in town I heard about the eclipse earlier in the day, so went out in front of the house and aimed my camera at the moon. I noticed two bright shapes by the moon. At first I thought they were both stars so started taking pics and saw one begin to move. I just started snapping shots and continued. Seemed like a couple minutes. I watched the shape move in triangular motions and then directly above or below or in front or behind the moon. It then began to descend further south and then faded into the sky. Pic details show this went on for 35 minutes occurring from 1:11 am to 1:44. I took pics of the eclipse at 2:23 or so and there was only one other object in the sky and the moon was in the eclipse. And another report out of Celina: Outside smoking a cigarette waiting to see the blood moon when it just appeared a star like object bouncing then disappeared and reappeared bouncing disappearing and reappearing all over ascended and disappeared in min. Shocked and Amazed! Were you checking out the Lunar Eclipse in Texas? Did you see any UFOs show up alongside the Blood Moon? Report your sighting! If you didn't get to see this yourself, perhaps you have theories on what this could have been? Feel free to share your insights in the comments section or on the Texas UFO Sightings Facebook page! AMSMeteors.org has received a suspiciously steady stream of dramatic fireball reports since the new year, and the night of the January 24th was a definite highlight. Central up to North Texas got a glimpse of a pretty fantastic shooting star. One person - driving through the Garland area of Dallas - captured in on camera and uploaded the footage to YouTube: Driving west on I-635 just past La Prada drive. Looks too high and bright to be a flare. The timestamp on the video is an hour later because I forgot to change the timezone after DST ended. Ever since the infamous Valentines Day meteor struck Russia, above average meteor sightings have been a constant and almost concerning reality of late! Check out some more witness reports:
Another YouTube video of a possible meteor in Houston also surfaced recently.

A father and his daughter were going on an evening walk with their dogs when they spotted a peculiar bright satellite in the sky, like a "bright planet moving across the sky." However, it was way too low to the ground and bright to be a satellite. Then another light popped up alongside it, followed by more lights (this time, flashing). The witness kindly submitted a description of their encounter to TUS, and is wondering if anyone else saw these strange lights (please report your sighting if you did): I'm always looking at the sky at night. There are tons of planes in the air here, but I have never seen anything like this. About 6pm my 10 yr old daughter and I walked the dogs down our street and she has been interested in satellites. She said look dad a satellite. In the west about 20 degrees above the horizon I saw a light that looked Like a bright planet moving across the sky. A little too bright to be a satellite and appeared lower to me. I started to say no it's a plane, but it was moving faster than your average Lear jet on landing approach. Also no sound. About that time another light popped up next to it and it looked like a winged aircraft with lights on either wing, but no sound, no aviation flashers. There was no shape, just lights. Then I said well that's no satellite. I still could have written it off, but then several strobe flashes appeared on the rear between the 2 original lights. 5 or 6 all bright white lights, no colored strobes. Unlike any plan I've seen. It was pretty far north west of us now and I watched it disappear in a few seconds. Maybe 10 Seconds for the whole siting. It flew south to north. Just wondering if anyone else saw it. When: On or about October 25th, 2013 Where: Irving (Dallas area) What: Strange star-like object stationary in sky, but not star or planet Hey guys, I stumbled upon a great YouTube video that features a glowing star or orb in the sky. By itself, it just looks like a sparkling star or planet or possibly a satellite. However, a plane seems to fly behind it at one point, and the witness who uploaded the video is somehow sure this is not Venus or some other star or planet. I am currently trying to get the full story, as there is not detailed description of the sighting. Normally I'd hold off on reporting on this until getting further info, but sightings of a strange, out of place 'star' in the sky have been common of late - and not just in Texas. But for now you can watch the video and judge for yourself: Have you seen a new star in our sky? Please let me know!
